Position Summary:

Manages the maintenance operation at Grand Canyon West.  Responsible for all maintenance services provided by maintenance operations and ensures high quality standards for safety, health and customer service.  Maintenance services include such duties as welding, plumbing, electrical services and maintaining building structures. Teams maintain and repair diesel and gas powered generators and vehicle/machinery maintenance including engine, transmission, tires, brakes, front-end, electrical issues, etc.  May be required to operate heavy equipment during execution of duties. Responsible for financial oversight of inventory and operations as well as leading, coaching and developing maintenance employees. 

 
Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Prior leadership experience in maintenance operations.
  2. Proven ability to make financial, budgetary and business decisions related to maintenance operations.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motive maintenance employees and supervisors to ensure service levels are maintained.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact with guests and staff in a clear, concise manner providing prompt, outstanding customer service. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  5. Demonstrated ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical services, maintenance of structures, repairing generators and vehicle/machinery maintenance.
  6. Demonstrated ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals for equipment, machinery and all maintenance services offered. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.
  7. Demonstrated ability to monitor the condition and maintenance of equipment, machinery, vehicles and structures.  
  8. Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  9. Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.
  10. Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task, work in a fast paced environment and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and well organized.
  11. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations, operations, Hualapai history and culture.

 Duties & Responsibilities:


  1. Responsible for all maintenance operations at Grand Canyon West.
  2. Ensure proper safety, health and sanitation policies and procedures are in place and being followed for the safety of guests and staff.
  3. Develop, communicate and implement all Maintenance policies and procedures.  Monitor policies and procedures, watching for possible need for improvements or changes.
  4. Responsible for inventory control and delegating the Administrative Assistant to maintain equipment and other maintenance supplies while ensuring proper maintenance and repair logs are maintained for equipment, machinery, vehicles and structures.
  5. Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities for Direct Reports.  Hold supervisors accountable for completing Performance Evaluations and discussions.  
  6. Responsible for helping the Maintenance Director with financial, budgetary and business decisions for maintenance at GCW.
  7. Ensure all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner, as appropriate.
  8. Answer visitors’ questions, gives directions, share information about GCW, the Hualapai history and culture, etc.
  9. Handle emergency calls and situations and take action to remedy the situation.
  10. Foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships. Ensure all maintenance employees are trained properly.
  11. Keep the Director – Support Services - GCW  apprised of all issues and concerns.
  12. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

  1. Good oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills. 
  2. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record. 
  3. High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Leadership experience in a maintenance operation that encompassed multiple sites.     
  5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Working Conditions:

Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
