Position Summary:

Supervises Maintenance Mechanics and Small Engine Mechanics providing maintenance and mechanical services to Hualapai River Running.  Ensures that the team is providing outstanding customer service by providing duties such as welding, gas and diesel engine mechanics, transmissions, power-train repairs, brake repairs, front-end suspensions, starters, alternators and other electrical items repairs.  Repairs physical structures, including plumbing and electrical services.  Interprets operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Acts as Lead Mechanic for HRR.  Maintains shop parts inventory of equipment, machinery and supplies. Provides quality customer service at all times while following safety and health procedures and policies. Handles daily work schedules and ensures all daily tasks are completed. Trains new or less experienced Maintenance Mechanics. Is responsible for organizing maintenance records for each vehicle and outsourced maintenance routines/schedules.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical services, maintenance of structures and vehicle and engine repair and maintenance.
  2. Demonstrated ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals for equipment, machinery and engines and all maintenance services offered. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.
  3. Demonstrated ability to monitor the condition and maintenance of equipment, engines, machinery, vehicles and structures.
  4. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain organizational structure for vehicle records and maintenance.
  5. Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  6. Ability to work in outdoor and shop environment for long periods of time.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster a team environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well as in group/team environments.
  8. Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate team members.
  9. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Direct supervision over the Maintenance Mechanic and Small Engine Mechanic team. Coordinate daily work schedules and ensure all daily tasks are completed.
  2. Ensure proper safety and health policies and procedures are in place and being followed for the safety of guests and staff.
  3. Lead, coach, train, develop, and motivate staff.
  4. Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities.
  5. Responsible for inventory control of equipment, engines and other supplies.
  6. Assist Mechanics as they perform maintenance and repair of equipment, gas and diesel engines, structures, vehicles and machinery for Hualapai River Running. This may include welding, plumbing, electrical services, transmissions, brake repairs, etc.
  7. Monitor the completion of maintenance and repair logs for equipment, engines, machinery, vehicles and structures. Schedule and oversee regular vehicle maintenance.
  8. Assist with the interpretation and translation into action information provided by maintenance and repair manuals, either online or in the physical manuals.
  9. Assist in the maintenance and repair of vehicles including engine, transmission, tires, brakes, front-end and electrical aspects.
  10. Ensure that maintenance equipment is kept in a clean, safe and operable condition and that all chemicals are labeled, diluted and used in a proper manner. Safety and health policies and procedures at all times.
  11. Foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships.
  12. Regularly communicate with Operations and General manager on maintenance needs
  13. Regularly check emails and communicate with corporation fleet manager on vehicle maintenance and issues.
  14. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

  1. Good oral and written communication skills.
  2. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record. Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
  3. Certified Mechanic Preferred
  4. Prior auto mechanic experience required.
  5. Leadership experience desired.
  6. High School Diploma or GED w/ certifications required.
  7. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
  8. This position requires proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.      
 

Working Conditions:

Position requires ability to work indoors in a shop environment as well as in outdoor environment occasionally. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
